Species: Carcharodontosaurus sp.
Age: Late Cretaceous (95 million years old)
Formation: Kem Kem Beds
Location: Taouz, Morocco
This is a real, 2" long Carcharodontosaurus dinosaur tooth from the famous Kem Kem Beds of Morocco. While the whole specimen is 2.66" long, the "root" is made mostly of filler and contains only a few pieces of enamel (likely from the original specimen) and possibly part of the original root. The tooth's enamel is nicely preserved, and most of the serrations are intact.
One other possible repair job, which is common for commercially sold teeth from this area, is that the tooth was found in two halves, which were neatly reattached to each other.
Carcharodontosaurus is one of the largest known carnivorous dinosaurs, rivaling or even surpassing Tyrannosaurus rex in size! Some estimates suggest it reached lengths of up to 43 feet (13 meters) and weighed as much as 7–8 metric tons. It lived from about 100 million to 94 million years ago during the Cenomanian stage of the Late Cretaceous, roaming what is now northern Africa in lush riverine and wetland environments.
