This is a real Calymene trilobite from the Anti-Atlas region of Morocco. These trilobites are often preserved as internal molds in sandstone, which makes them less detailed than other Moroccan trilobites. However, their abundance makes them more affordable, which allows us to offer larger trilobite fossils at a lower cost.

Size: 3" long

What Are Trilobites?

Trilobites are extinct marine arthropods with hard, segmented shells that lived in ancient oceans. They thrived from about 520 million years ago until they disappeared around 250 million years ago during the Permian-Triassic mass extinction. Their name comes from their three-part body structure: a head, thorax, and tail, which gives them a distinctive look. Some trilobites could roll up into a ball like a modern pill bug for protection, and their fossils have been found on every continent, showing they were highly successful in adapting to diverse environments across the globe for millions of years.
